Finite Element Analysis Of Instability In Hypoelastic Materials
Assess the performance of the finite element method in analyzing the bifurcations of compressible materials. The specific objective is to understand the significance of the eigenvectors of the tangential stiffness matrix by comparing them with the analytical bifurcation modes which were obtained independently in the case of the plane strain compression of compressible hypoelastic materials. Although tested for a particular example, the finite element method can be applied to analyze the instability of more complicated boundary value problems encountered in the fields of Solids Mechanics, Structural Geology, and Geomechanics.

Rigid Mechanics And Its Role In Nonlinear Structural Analysis
In the nonlinear analysis of elastic structures, the displacement increments generated at each incremental step can be decomposed into two components as the rigid displacements and natural deformations . Based on the updatedLagrangian (UL) formulation, the geometric stiffness matrix k g isderivedfora 3D rigid beam element from the virtual work equation using a rigid displacement field.

Mapping Strategic Management Research
DURING the last two decades, in particular, there has developed a substantial body of literature in the fields of strategic management, strategic planning, corporate and business policy, and related topics. This literature owes much to the prior writings of Alfred Chandler 10 and the decades of case writing and research undertaken at Harvard Business School by many learned professors. Indeed, Harvard's tradition of leadership in this field dates from 1914 when it first introduced a course requirement for business policy into the business school program.

Simultaneous Design for Manufacturing Process Selection of Engineering Plastics
This paper describes a methodology that helps designers select a manufacturing process for engineering plastics. For many advanced materials such as plastics, engineers must simultaneously select the material and its processing method while they develop the part geometry. Early comparison and determination of the manufacturing process will allow engineers to tailor the geometry to the selected process.

Using And Validating The Strategic Alignment Model
The literature suggests that firms cannot be competitive if their business and information technology strategies are not aligned. Yet achieving strategic alignment continues to be a major concern for business executives. A number of alignment models have been offered in the literature, primary among them the strategic alignment model (SAM). However, there is little published research that attempts to validate SAM or describe its use in practice. This paper reports on the use of SAM inafinancial services firm.

Strategic Alignment : A Framework For Strategic Information Technology Management
A central tenet of this paper is that strategic management ofI/Trequires appropriate choices to position the firm with respect to a dynamic and uncertain information technology marketplace as well as effective decisions that define the implementation strategy for building and operating the information systems infrastructure. In essence, we argue that the challenge of managing the information By I/T we mean computer hardware, software, communications and related computer-based applications.
