Displaying SAP R/3 Information
Information that resides in the R/3 application database can be displayed for review and use
by R/3 System users. Besides displaying data for individual transactions, the Executive
Information Systems (EIS) feature of R/3 can be used to display summarized information.
Frequently, R/3 System users need to lookup information in response to an inquiry by a
customer of a business partner. Displaying this information is readily performed within the
R/3 System. Examples of transaction data that can be displayed are the content of a customer
sales order or the material of a product.
Motor Sports International (MSI) is used to illustrate the operation of the R/3 System, it is
configured with the data and business processes necessary to carryout supply chain
processing activities. The North American Training Database of the International
Demonstration and Training System (IDES) contains the MSI data that you can access in
displaying R/3 information.
Displaying transaction data and information from the R/3 Systems provides a means for you
to experience the use of menus, matchcodes, and report trees in navigating the R/3 System.
This also introduces you to the complexities that occur in processing business transactions.
Because the R/3 System usually provides multiple menu paths for specifying a command, the
menu selections shown represent only one of the available methods for invoking the desired
command. Also, for more experienced users, transaction codes can be used to directly access
an R/3 screen and by-pass the menu selections. As you become more experienced with R/3,
you may use any of the menu paths or the transaction codes.
