Adobe Photoshop Elements Picture Puzzle Tutorial
This tutorial requests the use of Photoshop Elements. The student should
also have been provided with a PSD file from the teacher called PuzzleTemplate.psd.
This file contains a Clipping Mask which greatly simplifies the process of making your
puzzle illustration. The clipping masks also contains two effects (a drop shadow and a
bevel) ...
Press the DELETE key or select from the menu Edit/Delete. The puzzle piece is
now completely removed, including its corresponding piece on the template.
Reselect the Picture layer.
With your Eraser from the toolbar selected, zoom in on the missing piece area
and clean up any remaining pixels that were left behind after deleting the piece.
a. After selecting your eraser tool, check the settings on the properties bar
(below the menu). Make sure the eraser size isnâ t too big.
Repeat steps 24 through 45 to remove other some other puzzle pieces. Hint:
donâ t get carried away. You want your picture to look like a nearly finished puzzle.
Try adding some text on the outside of the puzzle in the empty area.
After adding text, add some enhancements and effects to the text by using the
Styles and Effects window. In the Layer and Styles window
a. Select Layer Styles from the pull-down list.
b. Select different styles until you find something you like.
From the toolbar, select the Crop tool.
Click and drag an area with the crop tool around the portion of the image you
wish to keep. Use the resizing handles to help.
Click Enter when you are ready to complete the crop.
Resave the file by selecting from the menu File/Save. Your master PSD file is
now saved for posterity.
